Newberry County School District

The School District of Newberry County serves approximately 5,934 students in 13 schools and employs 845 people. This district has several schools that have won Red Carpet awards, Palmetto Gold and Silver awards, and a National Blue Ribbon award in recent years and also boasts a distinguished arts program and a higher than average percentage of faculty with advanced degrees. The Newberry County Career Center, which serves all three of the secondary schools in our district, provides specialized skills and hands-on training in 12 different career areas.

Our district is currently implementing a $70 million plan to improve facilities throughout the county. Our schools also receive support from the Public Education Foundation, a local community-wide initiative, that raises funds for classroom grants, teacher development, innovative projects, and student recognition and scholarships.

Newberry Academy

Piedmont Technical College

Founded in 1966 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Piedmont Technical College offers a wide variety of career studies programs and transfer opportunities to colleges and universities throughout South Carolina. The College serves over 5,500 credit students annually in its seven county service area.

The Newberry County Center is the school’s largest satellite campus, serving over 500 students locally. The Center encompasses over 28,000 square feet of classroom, lab and office space to serve the citizens of Newberry County. The complex also has a 150-seat auditorium, which is available for public use in the community.

Newberry College

Newberry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts college located in the City of Newberry. The school has 840 students and offers a values-based curriculum with 20 majors, 25 areas of concentration, and 29 minors. With a 13:1 student-teacher ratio, Newberry College ensures that students receive not only a quality education, but also plenty of individual attention and guidance. Newberry College provides many opportunities for excellence outside the classroom through its more than 40 student organizations. And over 40% of the student body participates in NCAA Division 2 inter-collegiate sports. The athletics program includes fifteen NCAA competitive teams for men and women.
